Gas Line Install, Lots 10 & 11, 2009

Lot 11 Gas Line Extension

The gas line extension for Lot 11 was installed to the Lot 10/11 property line by Precision Directional Boring from an area near the Lot 11 fire hydrant.  Previously Kodiak had dug a trench from the Lot 10 home and a gas line extension was connected  to the home to join the gas line extension for Lot 11 in this same area near the Lot 11 fire hydrant.

Columbia Gas Company declined to install their lines until homes were built on the lots.  Now all Columbia Gas Company would need to do to underground a trunk line from the main line on West River Road, would be to bore it down the West River Road hill, under the lower lake and up the south side of the Lot 10 hill to the area near the Lot 11 fire hydrant.  They could then branch two meters off, one to Lot 10, one to Lot 11 since Columbia Gas had an objection to running a gas trunk line through the dam to the upper lake, otherwise Precision Directional Boring could have installed the gas line while they were on-site in March-April of 2009.

Precision Directional Boring prepared the gas line for the extension installation to the Lot 10/11 property line.

The gas line extension to Lot 11 has already been installed and capped.  Note the capped yellow gas line just beyond the boring machine bore head extension during the bore for the water line extension for Lot 11 from the area near the fire hydrant to the Lot 10/11 property line.  The gas line extension to Lot 11 was done at the same time as the installation of the water lines to the Lot 11 property line by Precision Directional Boring for efficiency in the project and also to enable the permanent landscaping to be installed on Lot 10 adjacent to the Lot 11 driveway easement.

Lot 10 Gas Line Install

In March, 2009, while Precision Directional Boring was undergrounding the utilities, Kodiak installed a gas line from the Lot 10 home to an area northeast of the Lot 11 fire hydrant location.  Kodiak also contracted to have the gas line connected to a gas appliance in the Lot 10 home per Columbia Gas Company instructions.  Below are some pictures of this installation.

This is Tom Hricovec of Kodiak supervising the digging of the gas line extension trench to the Lot 10 home.  The backhoe operator was Paul Hricovec.  The sidewalk they were about to dig through was removed and later transported to the dam of the upper lake for riprap.

The gas line has been installed inside of the Lot 10 house to the appliance, with a shutoff valve to facilitate future extension to other appliances.
