Lot 13 is over 300 feet from West River Road, but to give the home greater privacy a mound was laid out on the other side of the tall maple trees to the east on the west border of the Lot 12 lawn. This view is from the home site to the northeast and the Lot 10 home and to the east and the Lot 12 lawn with the common drive in the distance.
In April, 2009, when Kodiak widened the West River Road common drive and installed the south turnaround, ten inches of soil were removed and trucked to the area designated for the Lot 13 privacy mound. In May, 2009, when Kodiak installed a new 12-foot wide driveway to the Lot 13 home site the topsoil removed for that driveway also was trucked to extend the Lot 13 privacy mound.

By May, 2009 most of the soil had been added to the Lot 13 mound.
I had transplanted shrubs from the original Lot 12 mound. Then I began to add a weed barrier and Cyprus bark to the Lot 13 mound.
Using the skid steer Kodiak had lent me, I placed many loads on the crown of the mound to spread by rake later on. I had also transplanted small saplings to the mound to create a future hardwood forest.
This is a closer view of the Lot 13 mound, looking through the mature trees into the home site location. The Scotch pine trees scattered on the home site were those Kodiak removed when they widened the common drive entrance May 2nd. Shortly after this picture was taken I burned those pines, roots and all.
